Description

Rare birdseye view of San Francisco from Rincon Point area looking toward Telegraph Hill.

The map shows a Man, woman, and children in residential garden in foreground; busy street, scattered houses, and buildings in middleground; and anchored ships in Yerba Buena Harbor in distance. The view identifies the artist as F.N. Otis, M.D., Surgeon in the U.S.M. Steamship Cos.Service. The lithography is by Charles R. Parsons.

The view is apparently very rare. Reps locates examples at the Amon Carter Museum, Connecticut Historical Society, California State Library and Society of California Pioneers (San Francisco)..

Condition Description
The map has been cleaned and several tears repaired on the verso, most noticably in the sky. There is also some loss of paper in the lower corners. The map has been laid on modern linen.
