1868 Cassell, Petter & Galpin
Terrific map of the West, naming Gadsden Territory as a separate region.
The map was issued shortly after the formation of Arizona, Nevada and Wyoming, each of which is named, but the borders not properly illustrated. The region recently acquired from Mexico is also called Pimeria Alta. The road system in California is noteworthy as being much more detailed than most contemporary atlas maps of the region. Many Indian place names shown. Excellent detail in the Southwest and Salt Lake regions as well as in California.
A scarce variant of this map, based upon the Weekly Dispatch map, issued some years later, but with many changes.
