Rare map of Gallia, extending to the Low Countries and parts of German and Italy.
Matteo Florimi is one of the last of the Lafreri school of Italian map makers, and his maps are among the rarest of this era. He was active in Siena from 1580 to 1612. The present example of the map is consistent with the only other example which we have located in a private French collection and may even be a bit darker/earlier impression.
All of Florimi's maps are extremely rare.
