Description

Striking view of Venice, based upon a larger view by Freidrich Bernhard Werner.

The view includes an excellent plan of Venice, naming buildings, canals andother points of interest, with an interesting indigenous scene in the foreground, showing gondolas and locals, surronding an ornate second cartouche.

Artist Martin Engelbrecht (1684-1756) and his brother Christian were printsellers and engravers in Augsburg, Germany during the 18th Century. His view of Venice is one of his best known works.
