Description

Interesting 18th century engraved map of North America, featuring the mythical River of the West, introduced by Lahontan at the beginning of the 18th Century.

The map notes the areas discovered by Juan De Fuca and Martin D'Aguilar, as well as other interesting annotations, including the place where Sir Francis Drake was believed to have spent 5 weeks, "New Year's Haven," the Snowy Mountains of California, the known extent of the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers, and a Mountain of Bright Stones near the source of the Assinbois River.
