Description

Decorative map of North America, issued shortly after the conclusion of the French & Indian War.

Shows an unknown NW Coast of America, predating Cook's explorations, New Albion in Northern California, and an interesting view of North America in general. Each of the colonies is named, as is New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Savannah, Charles Town, James Town etc. New Orleans is shown, as is "Cenis" (Texas). Ft. Mobile is noted in modern Alabama, as is "Old Fort" just above the split of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers.

In the west, Santa Fe and Casa Grande are named, as is Great Teguaio, Alamillo, Paduces and the Carmel River (source of the name Carmel by the Sea, near Monterey).
