Description

Scarce large format Civil War Battle Plan, showing the route of Ulysses S. Grant's march from the area around Fort Gibson to Vicksburg in 1863.

The highly detailed map depicts Civil War emplacements during April & May, 1863 in tremendous detail, extending from the Mississippi and St. Josephs Rivers in the west to Jackson Mississippi in the east and shows roads, battle fields, emplacements,Grant's unsuccessful canals and a host of other details. Perhaps the best obtainable map of the region, which was published by the Army Corps of Engineers in 1875 and later copied in reduced format in the 1890s.
