Description

Rare topographical map of Yellowstone National Park, prepared as part of an advertisement for the Northern Pacific Railway.

On one side of this brochure is a large full color birdseye view of Yellowstone National Park. The view is the same as that appearing in the brochure of the Burlington Route, 1898. On the verso are two maps, one showing the Northern Pacific route from Duluth and Minneapolis west to Tacoma, the other showing steamship routes to Alaska from Puget Sound, plus the usual photos and text regarding Yellowstone and Alaska. Folded into self wrappers 23 x 11. Timetable comes in envelope with return address "From Yellowstone National Park on the Northern Pacific Railway" and shows a view of "Mammoth Hot Springs."

Relief shown by shading and spot height. On back panel: Northern Pacific, Yellowstone Park line, Puget Sound and Alaska. The map is quite scarce, with only a few institutional examples located in OCLC.
