Scarce map of the Holy Land, illustrating the location of the 12 tribes of Israel.
The map presents the full region on both sides of the Jordan River with information on the various divisions among the twelve tribes and their descendants. The map is richly embellished with the title cartouche held aloft by putti. Pierre Moullart was the grandson of Nicolas Sanson. He added the Sanson suffix to his name to publish maps. His business was not successful, therefore his maps are very scarce.
This is the first example of the map we have ever seen.
