Striking David Roberts seascape view looking toward the city of Caiphas (Haifa), Israel.

In the foreground, waves crash on a wrecked pier, while a group of men with horses stop on the beach and another small group walks along the shore. Haifa is located on the slopes of the mountain ridge known as Mount Carmel, where it meets the Mediterranean Sea. Roberts dated this sketch April, 24, 1839.
