Description

Striking large format map of the Great Lakes, Old Northwestern Territory and the Atlantic Coast of America, from the Chesapeake to New York and Vermont.

The map indicates that it is based upon a map by Thomas Conder, but this map is significantly larger than the source map and much rarer. We were only able to locate two examples of the map in the price records (offered in successive years in 1987 and 1988 and likely the same example), and it is possible that this is the example we acquired at auction several years ago. The map shows a massive Territory of the West, with Chicago the only town located in the territory. Very rare.
