Extremely scarce map from the English Translation of the Duke de la Rochefaucault Liancourt's Voyage dans le Etats Unis, which includes this marvelous map. Franklinia is shown between Tennasee and North Carolina. The region west of the Mississippi is Morgania. A massive Western Territory extends from Pennsylvania, Virginia & Kentucky to the Great Lakes and the Nation of the Bear. A number of western forts are shown, including Ft. Piorias, Ft. Adams, Ft. Joseph, Ft. Defiance, Ft. Hamilton, Ft. Jefferson, Ft. St. Clair, Ft. Washington, etc. Excellent notes on various Indian Tribes & Territorial claims. Map is cleaned & remargined, w/a repaired tear and some touch-up to neatline. Despite the repairs, an excellent 18th Century US map.
