Marvelous large format map of Africa derived from the maps of Sanson and De Vaugondy. Delamarche first issued a variant of De Vaugondy's map of Africa in 1784, with excellent text describing the lands, religions, colonies and other information on the right of the map. This edition, with the Rue de Jardinet No. 13 address, is a later state of Delamarche's map issued circa 1800, and is the last recorded edition of the map first issued by De Vaugondy in 1749. The map originally derives from the work of Sanson. Delamarche has added some modest changes in South Africa, but has remained with the basic 1749 model. Excellent large text detail throughout, real and mythical. Pedley 424; Tooley p.94.
