Rare separately issued map of Michigan Territory and the Northwest Territory, published by Weiland. While the map at first appears to be similar to the style of Carey & Lea, it should be noted that Carey & Lea did not publish a similar map, making this map unique. There are 9 counties in Michigan, making this one of the earliest printed maps to show counties in Michigan Territory. Most of the region is Indian Lands, with only a few Forts, Missionary settlements and other settlements shown. The American claims run all the way to the Lake of the Woods. An essential map for Michigan and NW Territory collectors. A fine example.
