Description

Fine dark impression of Russell's map of North America, including a massive unknown Northwestern region, speculative NW Coast of America ( pre-dating Vancouver & La Perouse), curious lake in the midst of Utah and many other fascinating early features. Excellent detail in Texas and the Southwest.

The Mission of Upper California are named. Many of the Hudson's Bay and other trading houses west of the Great Lakes are named. Nice detail in the Mississippi and Missouri Valleys, pre-dating Lewis & Clark's explorations of the region. There is a repaired tear from the right margin into the Atlantic ocean about 3" into the map. A nice example of this excellent map.
