The first edition of this scarce and under appreciated map of the United States, shortly after receiving its independence from Great Britain.

The map is remarkable for its detail and the for its unusual placenames. Pennsylvania, Virginia, the Carolinas & Georgia extend to the Mississippi tentatively. Florida also extends to the Mississippi. The rivers & Indian Tribes of the Mississippi Basin are shown in detail. Many early forts are shown. The region west of the Mississippi is Mississippi or Louisiana. A number of other early notes & places shown, including Walker's Establishment in 1750 (Kentucky). Massachusetts Bay is still a province. Neither Maine nor Vermont has been created. An excellent early map of the 13 United States.
