Description

Rare comparative study of the various treatments of the Terra Australis and the Southern Hemisphere, showing all of Australia and part of SE Asia. The map includes the outlines of the unknown Southern Continent as shown by Ortelius, th observations of Davis & Sharp in 1687, the views of icebergs reported by Lozier Bouvet in 1738 and later by Sir Edmund Halley and as reported by De L'Isle. There is also a conjectural area illustrating the Glacial Sea in the Arctic as a comparative. No example of this map has been listed in a dealer price guide in the past 25 years.
