Striking map of North America, based upon De L'Ise's map. Includes a well delineated Great Lakes and corrected rendering of Baja California. The cartography of the Mississippi River Valley and the Rio Grande are still quite inaccurate. Lots of detail, including many Indian Tribes and early settlements west of the Mississippi River, and a number of settlements located in Florida and along the Gulf Coast. The Channel Islands in California are well delineated and there are many placenames along the California Coast, as far north as Mendocino. The lack of knowledge in the Pacific Northwest and west of the Upper Mississippi is unabashedly left blank, unlike earlier maps. Decorative cartouche and full wash colors. Albrizzi's maps are scarce and beautifully engraved.
