Description
Very rare world map, showing the tracks of the Polo Family (1230-1295), Magellan and Pigafetta (1519-1522), James Cook (1776-1780) and George Vancouver (1790-1795). The map's most notable feature is the large and remarkably late depiction of the Sea of the West in the Northwest Coast of America, a very clearly delineated Northwest Passage and lack of lands in the Antarctic (not yet discovered). Very rare. Only one prior appearance in a dealer catalogue over the past 25 years. Marvelous vivid colors.
