Description

Rare broadside map of China, surrounded by medallions portraits of 8 Chinese military leaders, with Mao Tse Toung at the top center.

At the bottom, a soldier of the People's Army can be seen planting the flag of the Republic of China in the back of Chiang -Kaï-Chek. In the lower margin are 16 Chinese flags intended to be cut and stuck on a pin to be stitched on the map to follow the "March of the Chinese People's Army."

Mao proclaimed the People's Republic of China October 1, 1949.
