Description

A striking and rare photomosaic aerial map of New York City, compiled and issued by the City Planning Commission in 1969 at the peak of the city’s midcentury transformation. The work reproduces a photographic composite simulating a single, high-altitude satellite image, offering a unified view of all five boroughs, portions of New Jersey, and Long Island to the east. Though appearing as a single photograph, the image is a carefully assembled patchwork of individual high-resolution aerial survey photographs, printed with high contrast on matte black paper.
