Detailed map of the region around Beaufort and the Neuse River, showing the route of the Burnside Expedition in March 1862, from Morehead City to Newbern and beyond. Detailed map, showing neighboring towns, roads, rivers, islands, etc. The map notes the Expedition's anchorage on March 12, 1862, landing point on March 13, deserted entrenchments, Battlefiled of March 14, 2005, line of obstructions and Line of Yankee Catchers. A marvelous contemporary battle map, from From the report of Maj. Gen. J.G. Foster to the Committee on the Conduct of the War. The map is scarce on the market and has not appeared in the Antique Map Price Guide in the past 25 years. Stephenson 316.8.

A nice example, from the first edition of Mallet's work.
