A finely engraved early 19th-century map of ancient Italy, published by Robert Wilkinson, offering a classical rendering of the Italian peninsula and adjacent regions as conceived during the Roman Imperial period.
The geographic scope extends from the Alps in the north to Sicily in the south, and from the Ligurian coast across to Illyricum and Dalmatia along the eastern Adriatic. Three different mileage scales—Milliaria Romana, Milliaria Geographica, and Milliaria Britannia propria—are included in the legend.
