Description

Scarce regional map, showing the boundaries of the US and Mexico immediately prior to the Gadsden Purchase. California, Utah and New Mexico are now delineated, although the coloring still reflects the pre-1850 configurations of Texas and Upper California. Nebraska extends to the Rocky Mountains. Nice post-Fremont details, includiing Pto. Bucarelli and St. Bartolome on the Colorado River. The course of most of the major rivers is beginning to take shape. Boston is shown just north of Sacramento. The Range dividing the waters of the Pacific from the Great Basin is shown at the Oregon-Upper California Border. The City of the Great Salt Lake is named. Bent Fort, Gant Fort, Pike's Peak and Puebla are named in Colorado. Good detail in Texas and along the Rio Grande. A scarce map, which rarely appears on the market.
