Description

This is an original World War II propaganda poster created for the United States home front between 1942 and 1944. The poster prominently features bold red text across the top, declaring, "She's A Swell Plane - Give Us More!" against a white background. Below the text, an illustrated American airman is depicted raising his goggles with his right hand while giving a confident thumbs-up gesture with his left.

The figure is rendered in a striking black-and-white style that draws attention to his aviator's uniform and cheerful expression. Beneath the illustration, a vivid red banner displays the words "More Production" in large white letters, underscoring the poster’s central message of increasing wartime manufacturing efforts.

The artwork for this poster was created by Robert Riggs (1896–1970), a prominent American artist and illustrator renowned for his depictions of wartime subjects. Riggs was highly respected during his career, with his illustrations commanding significant acclaim and high prices, and his name was widely recognized alongside contemporaries such as Norman Rockwell.

In a 2012 and 2014 auction catalog from Swann Galleries, the man in the image was described as a Tuskegee Airman, but we question this conclusion.
