This map is the earliest printed depiction of the Battle of Bunker Hill, June 17, 1775. Printed only days after the battle and nearly 2 months before news of the battle reached England.
The references shown in the key note below the cartouche and the note regarding the burning of Charleston by British Regulars on Jun 17, 1775 are the earliest printed references to the battle to appear on a printed map.
The map is also one of the earliest maps printed in America to show Boston Harbor.
