Rare separately issued American published chart of Bermuda by Robert Hooker of New York, including sailing directions.
The chart provides a highly detailed treatment of Bermuda and environs, showing both sailing directions (with references to earlier charts, such as Lempriere's Chart), soundings, anchorages and place names.
Hooker's chart was first issued in 1819. The Hooker edition included sailing directions in the lower right corner of the chart. The present example shows a revised coastline and additional placenames. A later edition by Blunt eliminated the sailing directions.
Both the Hooker and Blunt charts are apparently very rare. The Hooker is known in a single example at the Library of Congress (1819). This 1821 edition is unrecorded, as is the Blunt edition(s?) of this chart.
