Description
Rare bird's-eye view of New York City, published in Leipzig.
The view shows Manhattan Island and its environs looking to the northeast. Toward the bottom, the map shows Governor's Island, Battery Park, City Hall and Park, and Broadway, working toward Midtown. Central Park appears in the distance. Brooklyn Bridge is still the only bridge in the city across the East River.
The view was published for use in German schools. While the view is unsigned, the artwork is attributed to German artist and graphic designer Mathieu Molitor (1873-1919).
