Scarce first edition of this detailed map of the British Colonies in North America, published just prior to the end of the French & Indian War.
The claims of the Carolinas, Virginia and New England extend eastward toward the Pacific Ocean. Georgia is now shown, as are many Indian regions. The Earl of Granville's line is shown, as is the more southerly Florida/Carolina Boundary.
The present state of the map can be distinguished from later states by the date in the title and by the inclusion in the second edition only of a boundary line running along the Western limits of the Alleghany Mountains and a second boundary line in Georgia, more or less approximating the Creek lands, west of the Appalachian Mountains.
