Description

Detailed early city map of La Jolla, with excellent promotional photos and an aerial view on the verso.

The census on the verso estimates the population in 1954, suggesting the map was made in that year or the next.

In addition to the aerial photograph of La Jolla, the verso also includes photos showing pictures of Ellen Browning Scripps park, the La Jolla Swimming Cover, the La Jolla Shores District and Scripps Pier, and an image shot looking north on Prospect from the Recreational Center.

Other than some of the first blocks in the Muirlands and Country Club neighborhoods, there is very little development on Mount Soledad; most of it is crisscrossed by bridle trails.

A fine early promotional item.
