Description
This engraving by Pieter van Gunst depicts Henrietta Maria, Queen of Great Britain, standing beside a table with a vase of flowers and a crown. She is dressed in an elaborate gown adorned with pearls and intricate embroidery. Her right hand gently rests on the table while her left hand holds her dress. A heavy curtain is drawn to her left. The engraving shows Henrietta Maria as queen, with curled hair, pearl earrings and necklace, a low gown, and a jeweled bodice. The print includes Latin and English inscriptions below. The engraving is part of a group of ten whole-length portraits engraved after van Dyck of portraits in the collection of the 1st Duke of Wharton from 1713 to 1715.
