Description

This map illustrates the subdivision plan for Coronado Heights, located in San Diego County, California, comprising an area now known as the Silver Strand Training Complex. The area shown is at the south end of San Diego Bay, not the north end, on Coronado Island, as the name might imply.

The map delineates various parcels, streets, and avenues, highlighting the coastal proximity to the Pacific Ocean and San Diego Bay. The map shows the alignment of lots and their respective numbering. Major thoroughfares, such as the "Ocean Boulevard" and other boulevards, are prominently marked. The subdivision covers an area of 237.21 acres, with 169 acres subdivided. Notably, a sample block layout is included for reference.

None of what is shown on the map is present in the area now; during World War II, the area was taken over by the Army as a coastal artillery emplacement, and after the War, it became one of the premier Special Operations training facilities in the U.S. military.

The 64th Congress convened in 1915, helping date the publication of this map.
