Interesting large format map, hand colored by counties. Many early counties not yet present. A number of early railroad lines are shown, including the Napa Valley or Cal Pac. RR, the Bloomfield RR, the Visalia RR, the Stockton RR (extending to Oakdale), the and the Virginia & Truckee RR. Many gold and silver boom towns and ghost towns are shown in both Nevada and California. 3 inch fold split at the top, else a nice example.

Asher & Adams was a New York publishing firm known for their atlases. Notably, their maps were some of the first to prominently exhibit railroad lines, even if this meant a slight reduction in topographical detail. They specialized especially in state and county maps of the United States.
