Description
Rare early edition of Andriveau-Goujon's case map of the United States. While the 1865 edition of this map shows up occasionally in case map format, this is a rare uncut example which was apparently bound into an immense atlas (nearly 30 inches tall). Unlike later editions of the map, the Territory of Colona appears, predating the appearance of Colorado. Similarly, an oddly misprojected Idaho appears, but is called Shoshone. Massive Nebraska runs to the Canadian Border. Arizona is below New Mexico. Many early roads, forts and Indian Tribes noted in the west. An exceptional clean example of this highly desireable map and essential item for Colorado, Idaho and Western collections.
