Description

Scarce Italian map of the Northwest, Canada and Alaska, published in Venice. This map is one of the underappreciated gems of Northwestern cartography, with credits and notes regarding Lewis & Clarke, Franklin, Parry, Beechley, Astoria, MacKenzie, Maldonado and the Russian discoveries in the 18th and 19th Centuries. A number of early treaty boundaries and 16th-18th Century exploration notes are also included, includingin Bareentz, Hudson and Phipps & Mulgrave. The map presents and unusual visual/ graphic style that is unlike any other map of the time.
