Description

A gorgeous scarce view of the Temple from Arias Montanus. Montanus' first maps were issued in a Plantin Polyglott Bible in 1571. Later editions are equally rare. This view shows litterally hundreds of people in all manner of daily activity throughout the Temple, as well as animals within the outer wall and in the surrounding countryside. In the first two courtyards, there appears to be a brisk market for small birds being conducted. An attractive and remarkably detailed view.
