A THIEF who stole antique maps in Scandinavia has struck at the leading
library in Wales.
He took maps worth pounds 100,000 from the National Library of Wales,
Aberystwyth.
They were cut out from four volumes of atlases dating back from 400 years.
The thief was seen on CCTV and is the man who struck before in Denmark
and Finland.
Police think he is stealing to order for wealthy collectors.

AN INTERNATIONAL thief may have stolen antique maps worth more than
pounds 100,000 from a library in Wales, police
said yesterday. The man suspected of removing maps from four atlases in
the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth is
also wanted bypolice in connection with the theft of maps from
libraries in Denmark and Finland. Staff at the Welsh library
discovered the theft after an alert was posted on the internet.
