Electric Works Corp would like to announce the availability of
Distributary(tm). New to the market, Distributary is an efficient software
engine for moving large files (including cartographic images and related
text) from site to site with one-to-many capability. Distributary is
bandwidth efficient, adapts to all internet transmission connections and is
very simple to install and use.
Libraries that are part of a network, map dealers with multiple sites, map
makers with out-sourced cartographers and groups of scholars with common
interests are only a few of the possible users.
Libraries or cartographical reference institutions might establish a low
cost internet Distributary link to other like institutions worldwide. Large
files of any kind, including map images, could be moved from one site to
multiple destinations by sending the file package just once using the
existing transmission connection (even dial up). Once the Distributary file
package is "pushed" into temporary storage on the internet, all recipients
are notified by email. The local Distributary receiver would then
automatically "pull" the file from its temporary storage using its own
bandwidth and transmission connection. The file package is then quickly
decrypted, uncompressed and becomes ready for immediate use.
NOTE: Distributary does NOT transmit files via email in any way, shape or
form. Email is used only for notifications.
Would you please take a few moments to look at the URL below and give some
consideration to ways in which Distributary might evolve to be useful in
your applications? Perhaps you would like to download and test the full
functioning demo, as well.
I would welcome a dialog or questions and comments. Please contact me
As I write this, I have received notification that Distributary has received
an excellent 4-star rating and a fine review at ZD Net.
Note: Some of you know me as the proprietor of Electric Books. My other
company, Electric Works Corp, still pays some of the bills for my enjoyable
but sometimes painful learning experience in the commercial map world.
Thank you for your interest and attention..
