Following up on a thread this morning on MapHist, I have verified the
course to be taught by David Woodward at the University of Virginia's Rare
Book School. This will be a 5 day course, March 8-12, 2004. It has not yet
been posted with a formal description at the main site, but will show
shortly (http://www.virginia.edu/oldbooks/). These are very good and
intense courses, with small classes (usually a maximum of 12 students).
Application dates and forms are posted at the site. The cost of a course is
currently $775, which does not include housing, meals (other than an
introductory dinner) or travel. The classes run Mon. to Fri., lasting from
8:30am-5pm for those 5 days. There is usually course work involved, and
students are expected to participate. Extensive details re: the general
nature of the school, housing, transportation, etc. are available at the
main site.
