Just how common was the practice of publishing combined
atlases by Mitchell or others, in this case an 1870 combined atlas that
incorporates Mitchell's "New General" with Campbell's "New Illinois" atlas? The
copy I have seen has original boards with a gilt-embossed "Combined Atlas" logo
on the front board.
