Greetings,
I am pleased to offer the following:
1. [Canada/Northeast U.S.] De l'Isle.
Carte du Canada ou de la Nouvelle France...1703. [ca.
1718.] Paris. 19 1/2 x 25 3/8." Limited
early outline color. Light dampstain at right edge and lower right
corner. Three small spots. Occasional very minor soiling.
Currently framed with Goodspeed's framing ticket affixed to reverse.
(Although I generally avoid framed items, the Goodspeed association may
well add value in this case.)
Covering much of eastern Canada, New England and the Great Lakes region,
this is a later state of the first map to identify Detroit. Tooley
notes a more accurate treatment of the Great Lakes in this map, compared
to De l?Isle?s earlier map of North America.
Kershaw: 5th state. Tooley, French Mapping of the Americas: 38.
[Item no. 2588.] $1,500.00.
2. [Atlantic Canada/Northeast U.S.] Sartine.
Carte Reduite des Cotes Orientales de l'Amerique Septentrionale Contenant
celles des Provinces de New-York et de la Nouvelle Angleterre celles de
l'Acadie ou Nouvelle Escosse de l'Ile Royale et l'Ile St. Jean ... par
Ordre de M. de Sartine ... 1780. [Paris.]
23 x 34 1/8." Black and white. One vertical fold.
Minor offsetting and edge wear. Wide margins with a 1/2 x 1" bite
out of right margin. Overall, a very nice example.
A striking chart of the coast from Chaleur Bay to New Jersey, encompassing
all of New England, Nova Scotia, Cape Breton Island and Prince Edward Island,
as well as parts of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New Brunswick and
Quebec. Sellers & Van Ee, Maps and Charts of North America
and the West Indies, 1750-1789: 215. [Item no. 2571.]
$2,400.00.
3. [New York Guide with Pocket Map] Tanner & Disturnell.
A Guide to the City of New York... [with map:] New Map of
the City of New York with Brooklyn and Part of Williamsburg by J. Calvin
Smith. 1840. Published by Tanner & Disturnell.
New York. Map dimensions: 13 1/8 x 11 5/8." 16
pp. 16mo. Dark brown cloth folder with "City of New York"
in gilt; shows minor wear. Guide pages are shaved close; light browning
along fore-edge. Map, with good hand color, has five small intersection
breaks; otherwise, very good.
A scarce guide and pocket map of New York City. No copy of this
pocket map is included in the Antique Map Price Record (through 2003),
although it appears the same map may have been included in a Tanner atlas
in 1842. A very nice example of a very uncommon guide and map.
[Item no. 2577.] $1,250.00.
Prices are prior to trade allowance. Subject to prior sale.
Please let me know if you have questions.
Thank you for your consideration.
