I have been collecting Russian and Tartary maps
for a few years now and have a few questions.
1. I have Bagrow as my main
reference. Any other good books out there?
2. I rarely, if ever, see Russian language
maps available on the market. Does anybody know of dealers in these
maps?
3. I have a Speed - Russia map which
appears to be almost an exact copy of two maps by other cartographers as shown
in Bagrow. Is this common?
4. Can anyone quote Ortelius Tartary and Russia
maps from the English edition of his atlas?
5. Finally, I am organizing my maps in an
historical context reflecting changes in the growth of the Russian empire over
time. I have a few good histories of Russia and one that focuses on using
maps. Any other suggestions for reference material besides those offered
in relation to question 1?
Thank you,
Steve Boulay
