Dear Maptraders:
I am looking for research help on the following map, which is apparently
unrecorded:
United States of America. By David H. Burr. New York 1831
Printed by H.J. Winslow. August 11, 1831.
40 x 34 inches. 4 sheet wall map, on linen. Colored by States, outline
color by counties. Large Inset of Oregon & Part of Missouri Territory.
The map extends West to include most of Texas, Oklahoma, Dakota and the
Missouri River Valley.
Burr's earliest publication is in the 1829-1830 period, when his wall map
and atlas of the State of New York were published. With the exception of
the Burr Postal Map of the US (1839), there do not appear to be any
examples of Burr Wall maps of the US (Burr and Colton colaborated from
1833 onward on a very small US map--about 28 x 21 inches).
All help appreciated. I have images of the map available on request.
Sincerely,
--
