Striking view of th Battle of New Orleans, from the Pictorial History of the War, 1861-2. The Battle of New Orleans was one of the major strategic battles waged in the region. Under the command of Captain D.G. Farragut, a seven-day battle was waged in which the Union gained control of the largest Confederate city without a single casualty. The battle, fought at New Orleans and St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana between April 25 and May 1, 1862, was a major turning point of the American Civil War. The present example has several minor tears and a few minor spots, but is in generally nice condition.
