Scarce Mickey Mouse Game Board Map, published for the Mickey Mouse Globe Trotters.
Characters depicted include Mickey Mouse, Pluto the pup, Clarabelle Cow, Minnie Mouse, Dippy the Goof and Horace Horsecollar.
The map was a promotional item for Peter Pan Bread. In order to become a “Globe Trotter,” a kid had to ask his/her grocer for a mail-in application form. The form was sent to the company and the kid was mailed a membership pinback button, newsletter, and a Mickey Mouse/Disney Globe Trotter map. The kids would then collect the stamps from inside of Bread packages to place on the map.
This map was distributed to members of the Mickey Mouse Globe Trotters, to play a "race 'round the world" game between Mickey and the Big Bad Wolf. Throughout the map, Mickey and the Big Bad Wolf are depicted causing region-specific mischief and mayhem: in between El Paso and Chicago, Mickey is a cowboy; the Big Bad Wolf gets the bull's horns in Spain; Mickey rides a camel and an elephant in Africa; the Big Bad Wolf is chased across India by a king cobra; Mickey bounces after a kangaroo on spring in Australia.
There are panels across the top and bottom where Globe Trotters are instructed to paste their own pictures. On the verso, Mickey takes a tour of the various breads of the world.
