Highly detailed early survey map of Alabama, published in 1838.

The map shows the progress of the General Land Office Surveys in Mississippi, as part of the General Land Office Report to the 25th Congress, 3rd Session.

The map notes the following major boundaries, etc:

  • Boundary between the Choctwaw and Chickasaw Indians
  • Choctaw (southwestern) boundary of 1822
  • "Old" Choctaw Boundary
  • District West of Pearl River
  • District East of Pearl River

The key at the left explains the colors and symbols as follows:

  • Red: Townships not yet surveyed
  • Green: No Field Notes
  • :Yellow: Township boundaries without field notes
  • +: Field Notes Transcribed by the GLO
  • °: Field Notes Recorded by GLO
  • □: Plats have been Recorded by GLO
