Rare separately issued broadside map of Europe, published in London by George Thompson.
The map includes city views of London, Paris, Amsterdam, Rome, Constantinople, Copenhagen, St. Petersberg and Stockholm.
We note no other recorded examples of the map, although we we able to locate a single example of a companion map of America, published in 1813 by Thompson in the Princeton map collection: gisserver.princeton.edu/map/4803 , and larger maps of London (1803), England and Walkes (1818) and a map of the World (1798), as well as a smaller map of Ireland (1798), England & Wales (1798).
George Thompson (1758-1826) was a very successful London publisher, despite most of his output being derivitive; he left an estate worth £70,000 although this was much reduced by the legal wrangles over the will that lasted until at least 1834.
