Rare separately issued map of Santiago del Estero, in Argentina, published in Buenos Aires by J. Peuser, for Francisco David.
The map captures the industrial and agriculltural growth of Argentina at the end of National Autonomist Hegemony, a period of tremendous growth in the Argentine population and economy, spurred by government reforms and a mass influx of European immigrants.
The map is divided by Departamentos and shows in great detail the operating railoads in the Province of Santiago del Estero at the beginning of the 20th Century. Solid lines note that railroads in operation, with Telegraph lines shown in Yellow, Telegraph Offices loated, along with raods, borders, battle sites, distances, altidudes and many other details. Some topographical details are also given.
Among the more interesting features is that the Prime Meridan is shown as Cordoba. The map is shown at a time when there was a dispute between this province and the Chaco Province, here listed as Territorio del Chaco.
The map is apparently very rare. We find no recorded examples of the map and no examples in any on line search, except a mention of a copy of the map in the Historical Museum of Santiago del Estero in a research article. With the exception of the Paz Soldan Atlas map of the province (with Chaco Territory), this is the earliest map of Santiago del Estero which we could locate.
