Description: First edition of Nicolas Sanson's detailed early regional map of Centeral America, from Sanson's small Atlas of America, first published in 1657.
The map extends from the Gulf of Panama and Y. de Perlas to the Southern part of the Yucatan, including the Gulf of Guanajos, the Gulf of Honduras, Tabasco, Tlacala, Chiapas and Soconusco. The map shows a massive Logo de Nicaragua and names many towns, rivers, mountains, lakes, islands, ports, gulfs, an essential map for 17th Century Central American Collectors. One of the earliest obtainable regional maps of this area.
From the 1657 edition of Sanson's L'Amerique en Plusieurs Cartes Nouvelles. . . , the third atlas to focus solely upon America.
