Description: Rare first edition of Cloppenberg's map of the Carolinas and parts of Virginia and Georgia, first issued in the Cloppenburg edition of Jansson's Atlas sive Cosmographie.
The map extends from St. Augustine in the south to just north of Chesepioock Sinus in the north and to the Alleghany Mountains in the west, naming a number of early towns,
The first edition can be determined by the page number in the top right corner (663) and the lack of a page number in the top right corner of the map image.

Condition Description: Trimmed to the neatline at the right side, with some minor loss. Narrow upper margin. Minor bit of glue residue at upper right corner.
